# Privacy Policy
**ForeScene**
Effective 11 October 2026
## At a glance
ForeScene keeps your information on your device.
There is no ForeScene account, and there is no ForeScene server. Your events, the photos you add
to them and your settings are stored in the app's own storage on your iPhone or iPad. They are not sentto us, because there is nowhere to send them.
The app contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking software of any kind. We do not sell or
share your information, and we never see it.
Two things do involve a connection to the internet, and we describe each below: looking up places on amap, and fetching a preview picture when you add a link to an event.
## Who is responsible
ForeScene is published by Robin Arbuckle, in Australia. For privacy purposes, Robin Arbuckle is the
data controller.

## What the app stores on your device
**Events you create.** The name, date, start and end times, notes, location and its map coordinates, a
link, tags, reminder settings and repeat settings.
**Photos you add to events.** Pictures you choose for an event, so the app can show your calendar
visually.
**Events imported from your calendars.** If you choose to sync a calendar on your device, the app copiesthose events into its own storage so it can display them with pictures.
**Your settings.** Your appearance choice, the opacity of event names shown on images, which calendarsyou have chosen to sync, your preferred day view, and whether demo events are shown.
All of this is held in the app's own storage area, which the app shares with the ForeScene widget so
the widget can show your next events. Nothing in it is transmitted to us.
If you back up your device to iCloud or to a computer, that backup may include the app's storage. Thosebackups are managed by Apple under Apple's terms and privacy policy, not by us.
## Permissions the app asks for, and why
**Calendars.** So the app can import events from calendars you select and show them with pictures. Theapp only reads your calendars. It never adds, changes or deletes anything in them. You choose whichcalendars to include, and you can switch any of them off at any time.
**Photos.** When you add a picture to an event, iOS shows you its own photo picker. The app receives only the picture you pick. It has no access to the rest of your photo library. If you share an event and choose Save Image, iOS asks whether the app may add that picture to your photo library. This only adds the picture; the app still cannot see your other photos.
**Location, while you are using the app.** Used only to centre place search on your area when you are adding a location to an event, so that nearby results appear first. Your approximate area is included in the search sent to Apple's maps service (see below). Your location is not stored by the app, not attached to your events and not transmitted to us.
**Notifications.** Used only for event reminders: reminders you turn on for an event yourself, and
reminders that come with events imported from your calendars. The app asks for this permission the
first time you turn on a reminder or import calendar events, not when it first opens. It sends no other
notifications. Reminders are scheduled on your device by iOS. Their contents are not sent anywhere.
You can grant or withdraw any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app. The rest of the app continues to work without them.
## When information leaves your device
There are two cases.
**Maps and places.** When you search for a place, when the app turns a place into map coordinates, and when it draws the small map picture shown for an event with a location, the place text or coordinates are sent to Apple's maps and location services so a result can be returned. When you search for a place and have allowed location access, your approximate area is also sent so that nearby results appear first. This is handled by Apple as part of iOS and is covered by
[Apple's Privacy Policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). We do not receive these requests and we do not keep a record of them.
**Links you add to an event.** If you add a link to an event, the app visits that web address to look
for a preview picture, and downloads the picture if it finds one. That request goes to the website you
entered, so that website — and anyone it uses to serve its pages — can see the request and the internet address it came from, as would happen if you opened the page in a browser. None of your event details are included in the request. If you would rather this never happen, do not add links to your events.
Beyond these, nothing about you or your events is transmitted off your device by the app.
## What the app does not do
- No account, sign-in or profile.
- No server operated by us, and so no copy of your data held by us.
- No analytics, crash reporting, measurement or attribution software.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking of you across other apps or websites. The app never asks for permission to track, because it does not.
- No selling, renting or sharing of your information.
- No other companies processing your information on our behalf.
## Your control over your information
- Delete any event in the app, and it is removed from the app's storage.
- Switch off a synced calendar, and the events it brought in are removed. Events you have added your own picture to are kept, so your work is not lost.
- Delete the app from your device, and everything it stored is removed with it, including the shared
storage the widget reads.
- Change or revoke any permission in iOS Settings.
## How long information is kept
Your events stay on your device until you delete them, remove the calendar they came from, or delete the app. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete.
## Legal bases, for people in the UK and the European Economic Area
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, where the app processes personal data on your device it does so:
- **With your consent**, for each iOS permission you grant — calendars, photos, location and
notifications. You may withdraw any of these at any time in iOS Settings.
- **To perform our agreement with you** and in our **legitimate interests** in providing a working
calendar app, for storing the events and settings you enter so the app can show them back to you.
We do not transfer your personal data internationally, because we do not receive it. There is no
automated decision-making or profiling.
## Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your
personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent.
Because ForeScene keeps your information on your device and sends us no copy, we cannot access,
correct, export or delete it for you — and we cannot identify you. You exercise these rights directly:
view and edit your events in the app, delete them individually, or delete the app to remove all of it at
once.
If you are concerned about how the app handles your information, please contact us at
[support@forescene.com.au](support@forescene.com.au). You also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator:
- **Australia** — the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), [oaic.gov.au](https://www.oaic.gov.au)
- **United Kingdom** — the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), [ico.org.uk](https://ico.org.uk)
- **European Economic Area** — your national data protection authority
## Australian Privacy Principles
ForeScene does not collect personal information within the meaning of the Australian Privacy Act 1988. The information you enter is held on your own device and is not disclosed to us or to anyone else. We therefore hold no personal information about you to access, correct or disclose, and we make no overseas disclosures.
## California residents
For the purposes of the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights
Act, we collect no categories of personal information from you. Nothing is sold or shared, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information. We do not engage in cross-context behavioural
advertising, and we offer no financial incentives in exchange for personal information. Because we
collect nothing, we have nothing to disclose, delete, correct or limit in response to a request, and we
cannot verify who you are.
## Children
ForeScene may be used by people of any age, including children — for example, by a parent or carer
setting up a visual schedule. The app collects no information from anyone, of any age, and transmits none to us. It has no account, no advertising and no analytics. Any event or picture a child or their carer adds stays on the device, under the control of whoever manages that device.
## Security
Your events and pictures are held in the app's own storage, which iOS protects so that other apps cannot read it. On a device with a passcode, that storage is encrypted by iOS. Because the app transmits none of your event content, there is no transmission for anyone to intercept, and no database of ours to breach.
The practical risk is physical access to your unlocked device. Setting a device passcode and keeping iOS up to date are the most effective protections.
## Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will publish the updated version at this address
and in the app, and update the effective date at the top. If a change would mean the app handles your
information in a new way, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and ask for your consent
where the law requires it.
